Assault Course Information

Outdoor Assault Course

The Outdoor Assault Course features a number of different obstacles and challenges for teams to climb over, crawl under and balance along. Students will take on this challenge with their team mates helping to not only complete the tasks set, but to ensure every member of their team is actively involved. Additional challenges and activities are included in each session on the Assault Course, building students up to the challenge of the Course itself.

Activity Area

WiseUp Team Building can run events at any privately owned site. This includes school/college/university grounds, sports facilities, camp sites etc. We are not able to run events in public spaces such as parks/rec grounds.

For our Outdoor Assault Course, the ideal space is usually a school field, astro turf, MUGA or other outside area roughly half the size of a football pitch.

Your WiseUp Team

On the day of your event, a team of WiseUp instructors, led by one of our experienced Chief Instructors, will arrive around an hour before the scheduled start time. They will bring with them everything needed for your activity day in one of our WiseUp vans.

The team will set up the Assault Course in your designated activity area and await the arrival of your students to let them know what to do.

While students are on the Assault Course, our staff will provide input and support to the students while setting the various challenges. They will also run icebreakers and other group challenges throughout the day as needed.

After the day has concluded and the students have left the activity area, your WiseUp team will pack away all of our equipment, leaving the space exactly as we found it before departing.

How would the day run?

Each Assault Course session starts with a safety briefing from the WiseUp instructors. Teams will complete a series of warm up games and challenges before embarking on the Course itself. A WiseUp instructor will demonstrate the course to teams, including a walk through of the elements. The students will then tackle the course and students may be given additional challenges to complete as a team while on the course. The participants have to support and guide one another around, over, under and through a series of obstacles.

WiseUp are able to accommodate a maximum of 36 students per Half Day Assault Course session, with students split into teams of 10-12.

Staffing

For our regular Outdoor Assault Course days, we would ask that 2 school staff are made available to supervise the teams as they participate on the course. We will provide members of WiseUp staff to run the sessions and provide support to teams. We understand that staffing within primary schools can often be tight and for this reason, a lot of schools we visit ask parent volunteers or any other school verified adult such as office staff or members of the maintenance team to take on the supervisory role of the student teams.
