Job Role Summary

An Activities Manager with WiseUp is an exciting and dynamic role that involves managing, leading and supporting multiple teams. It will be the responsibility of the Activities Manager to create a professional and safe environment in which all staff are best able to deliver WiseUp Team Building activities by encouraging and supporting staff development. Creating new activities and products to be sold as part of WiseUp Team Building offerings is a key component, alongside a passion for organising and maintaining equipment to the highest standard.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing, supporting & motivating several Lead Instructors throughout the duration of each activity “season.”
  • Training Lead Instructors, Senior Instructors & Instructors to run WiseUp activity days in a safe, professional manner.
  • Monitoring staff performance throughout the season to promote positive staff development and ensure WiseUp events are consistently being run to a high standard by all teams.
  • Dealing with staff issues as they arise, be they positive or negative.
  • Providing the link between Lead Instructors, Senior Instructors & Instructors and WiseUp management.
  • Leading large activity days in schools – including, but not limited to, team building; problem solving; bushcraft; orienteering; assault course and archery (qualification dependant).
  • Co-ordinating multi-event days at schools.
  • Organising and maintaining kit/equipment to ensure all teams have what they need and that it is at the required standard.
  • Organising and completing site maintenance and basic vehicle maintenance as required.
  • Driving company vehicles to schools/events.
  • Play an active role in the research and development of new activities and products for WiseUp Team Building.
  • Liaise with other members of WiseUp management regarding events, staff and equipment.
  • Any other reasonable duties.

Additional Information

The role is predominately Monday to Friday and will require early starts and/or late finishes. Weekend days or leaving to travel to overnight accommodation on a Sunday evening will be required from time to time. The Activities Manager will work both at the WiseUp Base near West Malling, Kent as well as out at schools across the UK. Overnight stays will be required at times at hotels provided for by the company.

A minimum of 1 year management experience within the outdoor events/education industry is required.
