Time Attack Information

Time Attack

Incorporating team work skills, with strong time management and plenty of opportunities for teams to run, pass, cheer and strategise, Time Attack uses a set time limit during which students have a range of different challenges to complete in teams in order to gain the most number of points. Some challenges require students to practise the task before attempting a timed round, whilst others involve the teams diving straight into the challenge. This allows students the opportunity to use the various different skills and talents of every member of the team to gain as many points as possible while managing their time effectively.

The winning teams from each round of challenges gets to choose the next one from a range of different skill areas, emphasising the student-led ethos of the day. With some challenges requiring physical strength, and others relying on mental ability, there will be the chance for every team to showcase their strengths whilst improving their other skills and having a great time whilst they do so.

Activity Area

WiseUp Team Building can run events at any privately owned site. This includes school/college/university grounds, sports facilities, camp sites etc. We are not able to run events in public spaces such as parks/rec grounds.

For a day of Time Attack, the ideal space is usually a school field, astro turf, MUGA or other outside area roughly the size of a football pitch. For larger groups, more space will be required while groups with less students can be accommodated on a space the size of a couple of netball courts.

We are also able to run indoors in sports halls and gyms.

Your WiseUp Team

On the day of your event, a team of WiseUp instructors, led by one of our experienced Lead Instructors, will arrive around an hour before the scheduled start time. They will bring with them everything needed for your activity day in one of our WiseUp vans.

The team will set up the activities in your designated activity area and await the arrival of your students to let them know where to go.

There will be three student teams assigned to each instructor, who will go between the challenges together. While students are on the activities, our staff will provide input and support to the students. They will also run icebreakers and other group challenges throughout the day.

After the day has concluded and the students have left the activity area, your WiseUp team will pack away all of our equipment, leaving the space exactly as we found it before departing.

How would the day run?

The day would start with a short presentation to the students about the importance of team work in everyday life and how to develop new skills alongside expanding on their existing knowledge with a strong emphasis on fun.

The students will be split into teams of 10 and each 3 teams will be allocated a teacher/ta or adult whose role will be to supervise the students throughout the day.
WiseUp staff will be allocated three teams to move with, supervising challenges and scoring teams. The teams will try and complete as many challenges as possible throughout the day, competing against the other teams in their instructor groups of 3 teams, as well as against all other teams on the day.

The event will be rounded up with a series of all in Mega Challenges, pitting all the teams head to head in fun and fast paced competitions, before a short debrief to all students in which the WiseUp team will feedback about how the groups got on throughout the day and relate back to the initial presentation before revealing the final scores.

Staffing

For our regular Time Attack days, we ask that every 30 students is allocated one teacher, ta or adult helper to supervise the 3 teams of 10 students for the duration of the day. This is due to our activities being designed for and risk assessed based on these numbers. Our insurance cover is based off our risk assessments so it is important that these ratios are kept.

We will provide a member of WiseUp staff for every 30 students you have booked for and our staff will work with 3 teams for the duration of the day.

We understand that staffing within schools can often be tight and for this reason, a lot of schools we visit ask 6th form sports leaders or prefects to take on the supervisory role of younger student teams.
