Job Role Summary

The role of an Instructor is incredibly fun, rewarding and definitely not boring! WiseUp Instructors work alongside our Lead Instructors in the delivery of safe, high quality, educational and fun activity experiences for customers at schools, universities and colleges all across the UK. We offer full training in our wide range of activities, including team building, bushcraft, our outdoor assault course, giant catapult building and more. Every day with WiseUp is different, as our instructors could be running a bushcraft event with 30 primary school students one day, to a team building event with 500 secondary school pupils the next.

Key Responsibilities

  • The set up and pack down of activity equipment at schools.
  • Running school supervisor briefings.
  • Assist Lead Instructor with group management – getting groups quiet, sat down etc.
  • Observing and motivating student teams on certain activities, leading groups on others.
  • Facilitating quality group de-briefs.
  • Maintaining activity equipment to a high standard of cleanliness.
  • Run ice breaker/re-energiser/All In activities.
  • Loading, unloading and re-stocking activity equipment at WiseUp Base.
  • Work flexibly and undertake any other duties reasonably required by WiseUp Team Building management.

Personal Qualities

  • Instructors need to be at least 18 years old.
  • A desire to work with young people.
  • Be willing to work under WiseUp Lead Instructors.
  • Have an enthusiastic and positive mindset!
  • Demonstrate effective organizational and time management skills.
  • An ability to adapt to changing situations.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, problem solving ability and a strong work ethic.
  • A willingness to learn and positively embrace industry and company policies and procedures.

Additional Information

This role requires travelling to venues across the U.K and may involve overnight stays at hotels provided for by the company. Some instructors travel in the WiseUp vans while others make their own way to schools and meet the rest of the team there – please feel free to chat to us about what would work for you! This role does not involve weekend work, although on rare occasions you may be asked to leave on a Sunday night if doing overnights. Various start and finish dates throughout the season.
